This blog provides a space for debate and discussion on all the key issues.

We want as many voices as possible and that’s where YOU come in.

Blog guidelines

The blogs need to be no more than 800 words.

They can cover any topic you like as long as it is relevant to Africa-Europe relations.

Some suggestions of key topics include:

Reflections on the Joint Africa-EU Strategy (JAES)
Review of the EU regional strategies in Africa
Review of the role of the European External Action Service (EEAS) in Brussels and in Africa
EU support to governance and democratic reforms in Africa with a particular focus on North Africa

Mobilising domestic resources and innovative sources of financing for African regional integration

How to boost intra-African trade through the strengthening of the role of the private sector?
The impact of the emerging economies on Africa-Europe relations
Promoting food security in Africa

We are keen to create a space for the widest possible debate – including key partners from both Europe, Africa and beyond.

Development in Africa would continue to be illusive as long as its goals,priorities and strategies would be conceived and per sued outside the society in which and for which they are meant to work. Development is a culturally grounded process for which no single cultural community can clAIM PREROGATIVE TO MANIPULATE. pARADOXICALLY THAT IS WHAT IS OBTAINED TODAY . Setting development journey by World Bank on behalf of western world for AfricA IS A DISCONNECT BETWEEN DEVELOMENT CHALLENGES IN these societies and the realities of addressing these challenges. Western trained policy makers in Africa are mere extension of the centre-west who cannot see their society from its own lenses but that of the outsider. Until the target people for Development benefits are diretly involved to set and define their develoment needs, as MDG fails so also next and next and next mellenium stratagem

At least there is an increasing awareness that the problem is not the lack or insufficiency of resources. It is about what has been done with what is available? If we can tackle these questions then we have taken a great leap towards development and sustainable solutions. I have always believed that what we need in Africa is already within Africa. We just need to know how to match these resources to what we really need to develop and not misplaced priorities. Like i already said, there is increasing awareness, but it is not matched by increasing action in this direction.
